SCA ETIQUETTE ACADEMY

What is Etiquette?

Etiquette is the intentional art of showing respect and consideration for others in everyday life. It is not about rigid rules or pretension; it is about making people feel comfortable, valued, and included through thoughtful behaviour, good manners, and social awareness. At its core, etiquette is a guide for navigating relationships whether at home, in public, at the table, or in professional settings. This is accomplished by choosing courtesy, kindness, and discretion in the way we speak, listen, and act.

Our Certified Etiquette Consultant

Carren Grant is a certified etiquette and tea etiquette consultant and co-founder of the Simcoe Caribbean Association Etiquette Academy. Shaped from high school by Westwood’s motto “Ora et Labora” – “Pray and Work,” she built her life on faith, discipline, and service. Growing up in an environment where etiquette and social grace were part of everyday life, Carren saw how good manners create confidence, open doors, and deepen respect between people. That lifelong influence is the heart behind SCA Etiquette Academy and her way of passing those same tools on to the next generation.


Drawing on 10+ years as a real estate agent, a background in accounting, and experience in cake decorating and hospitality, Carren brings professionalism, warmth, creativity, and attention to detail into every class. Her teaching style is interactive and practical, using real-life scenarios, role-play, and demonstrations so students don’t just learn etiquette, they live it. Passionate about helping children, teens, and families show up with confidence, kindness, and poise. The academy was founded to make etiquette feel modern, meaningful, and accessible for today’s world.

Guided by classic etiquette principles, attendees will learn place setting basics, napkin use, posture, utensil and glassware etiquette, polite conversation at the table, and how to handle common dining situations with ease. With clear demonstrations and guided practice, this workshop helps attendees build polished habits that support strong first impressions and respectful social interactions.

Attendees will learn how to express themselves clearly, communicate with confidence, and use respectful language, tone, and non-verbal cues to make a positive impression even in difficult conversations. Through guided exercises and real-life scenarios, participants will practice active listening, ask thoughtful questions, and respond with tact to reduce misunderstandings and build stronger relationships in family settings, social situations, school, and professional environments.

Through demonstrations and guided practice, attendees learn posture, walking techniques, and seated etiquette that project self-respect and calm confidence. The workshop also explores modern chivalry, small respectful gestures that show consideration for others while encouraging a healthy sense of pride in how one shows up in social, school, family, and professional settings. By the end, participants will understand how their body language, manners, and presence work together to create a polished, memorable impression.

Stand Out with Confidence: Business & Interview Essentials is a practical, skills-focused workshop designed to help participants present themselves professionally in any business or interview setting. Attendees will learn how to create a strong first impression through professional appearance, confident body language, and polite introductions. The workshop covers workplace etiquette, email and phone manners, and how to communicate clearly and respectfully with employers, colleagues, and clients. Participants will also practice key interview skills, including answering common questions, asking thoughtful questions of their own, and closing the interview with confidence. By the end, they will leave with practical tools to navigate job interviews, networking events, and professional environments with poise and self-assurance.

Tea Etiquette Workshop

The Tea Etiquette Workshop invites guests to slow down, connect, and enjoy the refinement of a proper tea experience. Participants will learn the basics of traditional afternoon, high, and royal tea service. In this interactive session, attendees will discover how to correctly hold and handle the teacup and saucer, the proper way to stir and sip, and how to navigate a traditional tea place setting with ease. We also cover the roles of host and guest, polite conversation, posture, and gracious behavior at the table. Whether for social occasions, special events, or professional settings, this workshop helps participants feel calm, confident, and well-mannered every time they sit down for tea.
